A plumber identified as Steve Nwani has been accused of bathing his aged mother with a liquid substance suspected to be concentrated acid.

Nwani, who is in his mid-40s was said to have been facing some challenges of late and blamed his mother for the misfortunes in his life, Leadership reports.

The incident happened at the weekend, at Ahima in Alisimie-Agbor in Ika South local government area of Delta state.

After pouring the substance on his mother, Nwani, a devout Christian of Baptist denomination went into hiding, apparently to evade police arrest.

According to a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the acid victim was rushed to an undisclosed medical facility for treatment and she is said to be responding to treatment.

Since the police could not find Nwani, they apprehended his wife.

She is reportedly assisting the police in Agbor to unravel the whereabouts of her husband.

People have been known to go to the extreme in venting their anger. Earlier in the year, a jealous housewife identified as Rosemary had allegedly bathed her rival with acid water in Oko-Ogbele community in Asaba, Delta state.

Also, one Ikenna Ozioko of Umuezebi, Nsukka  allegedly poured a corrosive liquid substance believed to be acid on his neighbour, Onah in the course of an argument.
