Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo North under the aegis of PDP adherents (Edo North Must Win),  are unhappy with with the role of the party exco’s at the 2015 general elections, PM news informs.

Leaders of the have passed a vote of no confidence and called for the dissolution of the State and local government executives of the party as expressed in a statement addressed to the national leadership by Edo North PDP leaders.

The statement signed by former member of the House of Representatives, Johnson Abolagba, members called for the immediate sack of the Chief Dan Orbih-led state executive of the party and other executives in all the 18 local government areas of the state.

Other signatories include S. S. Mayaki and 18 other leaders across the six local government of Edo North. The statement was read to journalists at a rally in Auchi. The members called for the constitution of caretaker committees at all levels to run the affairs of the party on a temporary basis and organize congresses that will be totally free and fair.

The disillusioned members claimed the party leaders and its present exco have failed to win any elections for the party for the past six years.

The statment eads in part: “Edo North PDP leaders should be allowed to determine its political future rather than its political future being determined by non Edo North leaders or Edo North leaders perceived to be loyal to some national leaders of the party.”

The members lamented the party’s leaders for failing to address the mass exodus of members to the APC instead they “have continued to embark on actions capable of causing disunity and destruction of the party in Edo state and Edo North in particular.

“Haven looked at the situation which is unacceptable, we have come to conclusion that the present leaderships of the party at all levels in the state cannot lead the party to victory in future elections neither can they bring about unity among members. Therefore we are asking them to go so that we can put our best people in power ahead the 2016 governorship election in the state.”

PM news also reports that chairman of the PDP in Owan West local government area of the state, Mr. Monday Ogbeta, has been suspended from office. He was suspended by local government and ward executive leaders of the party for engaging in anti-party activities.

Peter Ekeinde and Airadion J.A, signed the notice of is suspension for other local government and ward leaders of the party, and sent to the State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih for ratification.

Mr. Johnson Abologba, the leader of the Edo North leaders was also earlier suspended by the Monday Ogbeta-led local government executive.

Party leaders call for Ogbeta to handle over the party properties and affairs to Vice-Chairman, Mr. Festus Ohikhuare. He was accused of running the party as a sole administrator.

He was also accused of mismanaging the party’s money, particularly the fund set aside for the payment of the salary of the staff in its secretariat and accusing him of locking the party’s secretariat, hence preventing staff from entering into it as he had refused to pay their salaries from the fund set aside for the purpose.

Ogbeta was accused of refusing to return N20,000 to ward chairmen which passed through him for their transportation during the last election. He was also accused of suspending party members without due process and harassing party members against his wishes by having them arrested by the police.

Ogbeta has been asked to appear before a disciplinary committee set up by the party to defend himself against the allegations against him. The party has also been not to addres him as the chairman of the PDP in the area during the period of his being investigated.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the deputy national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, may be suspended.

He may be suspended as a result of a statement credited to him on the appointment of Amina Zakari as acting chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
