The news that was all over the Nigerian media yesterday that President Muhammadu Buhari has recalled Nigerian non-career ambassadors from foreign countries has been described as false by the foreign affairs ministry.

Ogbole Ode, spokesman for the ministry, told Premium Times that the ministry has no knowledge of such incident.

He claimed he also spoke to the permanent secretary of the ministry who affirmed that the news was a mere fabrication.

He went on to blame the Nigeria social media and online newspapers, forums and portals for carrying such information which he claimed did not emanate from the Buhari government.

Ode’s comment is however in contrast to that of Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity,  who confirmed the information yesterday saying:

“Yes, I can confirm to you that non-career ambassadors have been recalled by the federal government.”

But Ode insists the reports are false. Naij.com will keep you updated as recent events unfold concerning this issue in the nearest future.
