The raging war between Bukola Saraki’s wife, Toyin and sister, Gbemi, is something that has caught the prying eyes of the media again.

There have been an unending feud between the number three citizen of Nigeria, Bukola, who was then the governor of Kwara State and his sister, Senator Gbemisola. This started when Gbemisola showed interest in the gubernatorial position of the state, a ploy that will make her succeed her brother, Bukola, if she had won. This also came at the same time when Bukola was seeking a re-election for second term as governor of the same state.

While the late Waziri of Ilorin, their father showered support on Gbemisola’s gubernatorial ambition, while he backed off his older son, Bukola, for the same position. Gbemisola eventually contested for the seat on the platform of the Allied Congress Party (ACP). When their father died, the children could not feign unity as Gbemisola and her other siblings, Tope and Laolu, distanced themselves from their brother, Bukola during the one year memorial service. They left the venue with immediate effect leaving Bukola and his guests, after the memorial service in a chartered flight.
However, thecapital.ng reports that although the rift between Bukola and Gbemisola has been settled, Bukola Saraki’s wife, Toyin, is not ready to bury the hatchet. Toyin is said to be angry with her sister-in-law particularly because of her effrontery and betrayal of her brother.

While friends and family members have tried to help in meddling matters, their attempts have been hitting the brick wall. Not even the intervention of their immediate family could convince them to tow a peaceful path rather they have continued to wallow in acrimony and fan the embers of discord as if their individual survival depends on it.
Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki is a Nigerian senator who was elected to represent the People’s Democratic Party in the Central Senatorial District of Kwara State in April 2003.
