Al-Makura claimed that Maku’s hostile tendencies along with ethnic and religious lines helped fuel the crises in the state.

The former Minister of Information at a press briefing in Abuja over the weekend alleged that the “insensitivity” in handling security issues in the state by the government had led to the death of innocent citizens.

Maku said he would have attended to the issue had he been sworn in as governor.

The Special Assistant to Governor Al-Makura on Media and Publicity, Ahmed Tukur, in a swift reaction yesterday, said it was rather unfortunate that Maku, who had ignored invitations sent to him and other stakeholders on a number of occasions by the governor to find solutions to the communal crises in recent past could make such unguarded utterances.

Al-Makura said: “It is on record that Nasarawa State had very poor representation at the Federal Executive Council under Mr. Maku as minister from the state. Rather than represent the state diligently, Maku was rather setting former President Jonathan against the state and the entire northern region. The former minister prevented most of the projects that would have been carried out in the state and northern Nigeria in general because of his selfishness.”
