7 Reasons Nigerian Youths Are Highly Desperate For White Collar Jobs

Monday, July 13, 2015 0

There are a great number of Nigerian graduates out there, still seeking white collar jobs (WCJs), despite the fact that their arrow has not hit the target, which is the job of their dream.
Frankly speaking, these youths have a share of the blame, as well as the Nigerian society.

Youths are disinterested in trying their hands on new things. Some of them still want to be spoon-feed.
Nigerian graduates are seriously becoming frustrated everyday. They are doing all sorts of things to secure WCJs. They put forward several reasons why they want WCJs.
Lets take a look at these reasons why the graduates still cling their hope on WCJs
1. Employability is based on Certificate: The Nigerian educational system is tailored around having an academic qualification. There is hardly any employer that ask a job seeker if he has practical skills.
2. Youths are not innovative: A good number of Nigerian graduates suffer from mental-laziness. They see it as degrading to their status if they take up unskilled profession. They cannot think outside the box.
3. Luxury: The fantasies that surround WCJs make the youths salivate for these jobs. They see top bankers and doctors in expensive suits and porsche vehicles. They believe that the only way to getting such luxury is to take up WCJs.
4. Respect given by society: The Nigerian society does not help matters. People value someone if he says he works in an organisation or a company, even if his salary is a peanut.
READ ALSO: <a href="http://bit.ly/1JWbNZa" target="_blank">6 Reasons You Should Get Married Before 27</a>
5. Financial package: When graduates hear the huge remuneration of oil and telecommunication companies, they do not think of anything else than a passion to have these jobs.
6. Background: Some parents always insist that their children will do no other job than WCJs, even if such children have stayed at home for donkey years after graduation.
7. Unfavourable economy: The poor living standards in Nigeria, where poverty is the order of the day is not helping issues. There is hardly any opportunity for an alternative. There are no available channels for youths to secure collateral-free loans to start a business. As all these are non-extant, they continue searching for WCJs.

The piece of advice for the Nigerian youths is that they should find a time to reflect and think on their strength, in order to find a way of making themselves financially-independent, and not financially-dependent after years of graduation.

Most individuals do not find their ‘friends’ in their partners who however contribute to the growing rate of failed celebrity marriages. One major thing I think is responsible for failed marriages is when one is very insensitive to his/her partner. Women love attention. I love it and my husband understands me for who I am and that is very important in a union. Apart from buying the gifts and doing a couple of other things, you should always understand what your partner wants, she said.

5 Meal Lagosians Love To Eat In Traffic

Monday, July 13, 2015 0

Lagosians are always on the run and with a lot of people using the road at the same time; traffic is almost a daily occurrence. Although other means of transportation are being encouraged, the road has already taken a position as the most used means of transportation in the city. Being stuck in traffic is uninteresting but there is no time to waste. Lagosians still try to utilize the time being stuck in total or slow moving traffic to other things. Eating is one of the ways to pass the time and here are five meals that have become popular with commuters.
Gala and La casera
<img alt="gala and lacasera" class="alignnone wp-image-487367 size-large" height="536" src="http://bit.ly/1K1x5Vw" width="800" />
(Un) arguably the number one choice of Lagosians in traffic, Gala and La casera have earned a place in people’s heart when they are in traffic. They’ve actually become synonymous with all brands of sausage rolls and soft drinks respectively. With two hundred naira, you can get a satisfying combination of this meal when you’re in traffic.

Plantain Chips.
<img alt="plantain" class="alignnone wp-image-487372 size-full" height="540" src="http://bit.ly/1K1x5Vy" width="720" />
Delicious and crunchy! Plantain chips are becoming quite popular with the traffic market. With a drink or cold water, you are ready to go. A sachet is sold for N100 or N50 for a small size. Some are peppered to give you that combined taste of ‘peppered sweetness’. The competitive market has led to some being branded for identification but a lot of Lagosians don’t care as long as they chips are real plantain!
Pop Corn
<img alt="popcorn" class="alignnone wp-image-487379 size-full" height="435" src="http://bit.ly/1TxuWT6" width="635" />
A very common meal in the cinema, it has found its way into Lagos traffic where it is quickly exchanging hands through the window of a bus. The fluffy food is usually sold for N50 and is wonderful with a bottle of water. Lagosians like it for its crunchy delight and doesn’t leave any tell-tale smell after consuming.
Chin Chin
<img alt="chin chin" class="alignnone wp-image-487381 size-full" height="375" src="http://bit.ly/1K1x5VA" width="500" />
Diced/elongated and crunchy, chin-chin is a delicious meal that is sold already sealed in nylons and sometimes branded. Sold for N50 or N100, depending on the size, it comes handy when stuck in traffic. For Lagosians, its best accompanied with a cold drink.

They’re all put into the same category because they are usually sold in the same plastic containers in Lagos traffic. The supposed fish pie might contain little or no fish but it still doesn’t stop Lagosians from grabbing a mouth filling bite in traffic. With a drink, you’ll soon forget it doesn’t have all the condiments you’re expecting.

Why President Buhari, Osinbajo Can’t Reduce Their Salaries

Monday, July 13, 2015 0

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice Yemi Osinbajo don’t have the powers under the law to cut their own salaries by half, the National Human Rights Commission says.

Professor Chidi Odinkalu, the chairman of the commission, told Channels Television on July 12 that the power to cut salaries belongs to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
READ ALSO: <a href="http://bit.ly/1Czsd7F" target="_blank">Buhari, Osinbajo Slash Their Salary By 50%</a>
He said: “This idea of Governors, President or Vice President slashing their salaries, I think it is alluring and a lot of people will welcome it.
“But I will caution that there is going to be a process here, the salaries of the President, Vice President and Governors are not set by them and they actually don’t have the powers under the law to cut their own salaries.
“That is done by the Revenue mobilisation, allocation and fiscal commission.”
Professor of law emphasized that there was no law that allowed the Nigerian leader to cut his salary.
Odinkalu said that for the president, vice president and governors there should be a review of the constitution to authorize them to take such decisions.
“What will happen is that they can collect their salaries and decide to donate 50 per cent of that back to the state. We need a system to get that money and be able to use it for public purpose,” he added.
“Let us not because of populism do something that is not authorised by law.

 “A democratic system is a system of law and we do not elect the President and Governors to do what is unlawful.”

It would be recalled that Buhari and Osinbajo had last week said <a href="http://bit.ly/1Czsd7F" target="_blank">they would only take 50%  of their salaries</a>, as part of their commitment to cutting cost of governance.
The decision was greeted by most Nigerian, as they considered it was a good way for the President to commence the implementation of his promise to cut cost of governance.

10 Scientific Benefits Of Drinking Beer

Monday, July 13, 2015 0

Some people look at beer drinkers as people who are shortening their live span but it has now been proven scientifically that drinking beer could have more health benefits than hazards.

4. Beer makes the brain sharper: A particular study in the  New England Journal of Medicine found that women who had one alcoholic drink a day were less likely would retain their mental abilities as they grow older.
5. Beer doesn’t actually give you a beer belly: A myth has now been busted. It is generally believed that beer drinkers develop pot bellies but a study at UCL claim drinking beer and pot belly cannot be scientifically liked.
Researchers claim: ‘There is a common notion that beer drinkers are, on average, more ‘obese’ than either non-drinkers or drinkers of wine or spirits.
‘The association between beer and obesity, if it exists, is probably weak.

B/Haram: Military Reveals New Strategy To Curtail Suicide Bombing

Monday, July 13, 2015 0

The Nigerian Military has revealed new plans to curtail activities of islamic insurgents, Boko Haram following the recent suicide bombings in the country.
The Nation reports that the Nigerian Army is seeking effective ways of responding to the threats being posed by the insurgents and are adopting modalities for proactive response to the menace of suicide bombing as discussions are in top gear at the ongoing Chief of Army Staff second quarterly conference in Abuja.
<div id="attachment_268348" style="max-width: 406px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img alt="Lieutenant-General Kenneth Minimah" class=" wp-image-268348" height="226" src="http://bit.ly/1O6y5pX" width="406" />

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah while declaring the conference open on Monday, noted that the Army would seek ways of working in synergy with other security agencies to tackle suicide bombing.
Minimah added: “I therefore urge you to use the opportunity offered by this conference to deliberate on measures to enable the Nigerian Army in synergy with sister services, security agencies and paramilitary organisations to adequately respond to this tactics of the terrorists.”
According to the Army chief, the insurgents have resorted to suicide bombing because their ability to face troops in any form of combat had been seriously degraded, he therefore deplored the insurgents’ choice of innocent and venerable targets in worship places, markets and schools for bomb attacks, describing the action as cowardly.
The conference, the Army boss further explains, has offered the opportunity to review ongoing counter insurgency operations and also to help the Army prepare better for events lined up for the rest of the year.

While commending Nigerians for their patriotism and nationalism in supporting the Army in the counter insurgency campaign, despite the grim predictions in some quarters, Minimah also appreciated the troops, who he said, have continued to make sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
“His sustained effort at national, regional and international levels towards addressing insecurity in the country since assumption of office, has reassured us that victory over the Boko Haram terrorists is in sight,” the Army chief added.
Recall that the <a href="http://bit.ly/1O6y5q1" target="_blank">Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari early today fired his service chiefs over their inability to stop</a> the excesses of the terrorists.

In this part of the world, we are mostly used to women being the financial opportunists, always looking to be with men who can upgrade their financial status; but most atimes, men can be guilty of this too.
<img alt="gold-digger" class="alignnone wp-image-487350 size-large" height="600" src="http://bit.ly/1O6y5pM" width="679" />
We can blame the situation in the evolving way of life, where women are now making giant strides in their academics and also in their careers so you would should not be surprised to find that quite a lot of women are financially independent in their own right.

This, in turn, would lead them to becoming victims of opportunistic men. I mean, let’s face it, who does not want to be with someone who is willing to elevate their social status; either male or female?
Aishat, from Osun State says;
“My boyfriend in the University is always fond of asking me for money at every opportunity. I have bought him countless recharge cards, paid for his internet subscriptions and even helped paid his school fees. Sometimes I am worried this is the only reason he wants to be with me, but I find it difficult to say no to him”.
A 24-year-old lady from Lagos also shares her story;
“I met Daniel a year ago, earlier this year, I took him home to meet my family (my father is quite wealthy and our home makes that very obvious) and since then, he has been asking me for money constantly.
“I find this uncomfortable and I tried to tell him about it but he flared up and told me that I am being selfish. He insisted that he is sure my father can give me whatever I want and I should not have a problem sharing with him.
“He even threatened to leave me for his ex girlfriend if I continued to be difficult. The relationship did not last long after this altercation.”
What happens when it is a married woman facing this struggle?
Bola, talks about her experience with her husband of two years;
“I knew he was struggling financially before we got married but I loved him and that did not matter. We got married last year and things took a turn for the worst.
“I have a good career going and I was able to afford being the breadwinner but recently, he has completely refused to work to bring in money.
“Now, I do everything. I cook, clean, take care of the home, take care of our child while also working and still paying all the bills. He seems content to just sit at home playing video games and drinking with friends at nights.
“I tried explaining that the stress is too much, and that I would need help financially sometimes too. He promised to try harder but nothing has changed. These days, I feel used and very unsure if I want to stay in the marriage.”
From the stories above, we can gather that things get very rocky when it seems all the financial burden are on the woman. Our men still want a woman to retain their traditional roles, regardless of whether or not she shares or bears the financial responsibility. She becomes depressed and stressed out, leading the relationship to suffer.
What do you do if you have an opportunist on your hands?
Well, sometimes, things might not be as they seem. Just because a man asks for your help does not necessarily mean he is trying to use you for financial gain.
If you do start to feel this way, have a heart-to-heart with him and explain how you feel.
Let him know that expecting you to solve all his financial problems makes you respect him even less.
If it is decided that you should be the breadwinner because you earn more, come up with ways he can also help with taking some burden off you. If he supports and loves you, he should be willing to reach a compromise on the issue. If not, then you should know it is time to move on.

A man would feel used if a woman only wants him for what the money he can provide, and the situation is even worse for women because one of the things that women respect in men is the ability to provide just like men expect their women to be able to nurture.

<img alt="ayuba" class="alignnone wp-image-486437 size-full" height="400" src="http://bit.ly/1HWH3XG" width="650" />

Ayuba disclosed this in a recent interview, read the excerpt below.
When will you say is your happiest day ever?
“I will not lie to you. The day I became a born again, that was my happiest day. Now I realise this life is to worship God.
I thank God because it’s a big opportunity. It’s only God that can make one get to that age.
I thank God for His mercy over my life and I am grateful to God for the door of understanding that He opened to me.”

Why did you do music?
“It’s what brought me to Fuji music. I don’t know. I remember I had a lot of Islamic clerics who came to pray for me and when they left, I would still go to my room to read the Bible.”
Why did you choose Christianity?
“I think my conviction was in the Bible. It got to a stage that my children would be laughing. They would say, ‘Daddy, choose one’. But I did not want to pick like you said, because of Fuji. It has Islamic origin, my background, how would my family feel? I didn’t want to offend this; I didn’t want to offend that but I discovered that religion or belief has nothing to do with your musical life and no one says we are listening to your music because of your personal life or so.”
 “I see life as a very simple thing now; I am not in haste or say I must have this, I must have that. The important thing to me is that I need to enjoy myself. That is key. If care is not taken, you will just keep on looking for this, you want to become that, till you get to your old age and just die or you begin to regret when you get to 70 or 80 that I have never been to Dubai for holiday, I only go there to perform or I have never been to London for two weeks holiday, I only go there to perform. When you go to a place to perform, it’s your work, so you must arrange a date that oh, I am going to London for holiday.”
